What Does Converting DPI Do?
DPI (Dots Per Inch) is a printer instruction tag that determines how tightly pixel data is packed when printed on physical paper. Changing an image's DPI header changes its physical print size without altering the actual image resolution or clarity.
For example, a 1000 × 1000 pixel image tagged at 300 DPI will print at 3.33 × 3.33 inches. If retagged to 600 DPI, it prints at 1.67 × 1.67 inches. Our tool rewrites the JPEG JFIF density and PNG pHYs chunks without touching a single pixel of your picture.
