Create an ID-style photo with a red background canvas
The red-background route opens the passport photo maker with a deep red canvas colour (#DC2626) and a default US square photo preset of 51 x 51 mm or 600 x 600 pixels. You can choose another size from the built-in list, adjust the zoom and framing, and export a single JPEG or a 4 x 6 inch print sheet. The route is useful as a starting point when a document or organization asks for an image on a red field.
A red background is not a universal passport-photo standard. Different countries and different document types specify different background rules. Some request white or a light neutral background; others may request a particular colour for a local ID, membership card or other administrative form. Do not assume red is acceptable simply because a page offers a red preset. Confirm the exact colour rule with the authority receiving the image.
The red field is a canvas colour, not an automatic background-removal feature. The application draws the uploaded photo over the canvas with a cover crop. An opaque JPEG or PNG with an existing wall, room or outdoor background will normally keep that original scene. The red colour will not replace it. Use a source photo with a suitable plain background already present, or an image with transparent areas if you need the selected canvas to show through.
Choose a photo size before adjusting the frame
The same passport photo component powers the white, red and country-size routes. It includes eight built-in presets: US 51 x 51 mm; UK/Schengen/EU 35 x 45 mm; India passport/OCI 35 x 45 mm; India square 35 x 35 mm; Canada 50 x 70 mm; Australia/New Zealand 35 x 45 mm; China 33 x 48 mm; and Malaysia 35 x 50 mm. Pixel dimensions are calculated for each preset at the tool's nominal 300 DPI canvas sizes.
These are selectable starting sizes, not an exhaustive database of current official rules. A document authority may require a different background, face scale, digital pixel range, file size, photo date or unedited original photograph. Check the official instructions for the precise document and application channel before using a red-background output.
How to prepare a red-canvas photo
Use the page to set a canvas and framing rather than to alter an unsuitable portrait:
The tool accepts one image at a time. It does not create a ZIP batch of multiple applicants, and it does not add labels or application data to the exported image.
Understand the red, white and light-gray choices
The red route initially sets the background canvas to a saturated red colour. The side panel also presents Plain White (Standard) and Off-White / Light Gray choices. A user can therefore change the starting red setting. The output canvas is filled with the selected colour before the uploaded photo is drawn.
Because the source portrait is drawn over that fill using a cover crop, a normal opaque image covers the canvas. If the source already has a plain white wall, that wall remains white; the red canvas does not automatically recolour or remove it. The selected background is visible only where the source image is transparent or does not cover the underlying canvas. This is why a pre-prepared plain background is important with the current implementation.
Use red only when the destination instructions explicitly call for it. A red field should not be described as an official passport standard for a country without checking the specific document instructions. The passport photo requirements may specify white, off-white or another neutral colour, and the rules can differ between passports, visas and local identity cards.
Adjust zoom and use the biometric preview guides
The zoom control ranges from 60% to 220%, with buttons for shifting the image up or down and a control to reset the frame. The tool fills the target size with the portrait, so zoom and position changes affect which parts of the source remain visible. Check the top of the head, chin and shoulders carefully; a strong crop can cut off part of the subject.
When enabled, the preview draws a blue eye-level line, a red chin/head guide and an oval. These are visual overlays on the preview only. They do not use face recognition, calculate actual eye position or measure the head. They are not added to the final image. Turn them off if you prefer a clean preview, but continue to review the face against the rules of the receiving authority.
Download a single photo or 4 x 6 print sheet
The page offers Single Photo and 4 x 6 inch Print Sheet output. Single Photo exports the selected size as a JPEG. The print-sheet option creates a landscape 1800 x 1200 pixel JPEG with repeated copies of the same selected photo and light cut outlines. The number of images that fit depends on the chosen dimensions and the layout calculation. Review the sheet before printing and use photo paper at the intended 4 x 6 inch size.
Only those two output modes are exposed in the current interface. Although an A4 rendering branch exists in the source, there is no visible A4 selector on this page. The tool handles one portrait per run, and it does not make separate passport pictures for a batch of different people.
Check document requirements before using a red background
A correct canvas size does not establish that a photo is acceptable. Authorities may inspect the subject's position, head height, expression, eye visibility, lighting, shadows, image age, background and whether the picture has been digitally altered. Some official photo systems require an original image rather than one edited in software. The photo maker does not validate those conditions.
Before download or submission:
The red-background option is a colour preset for an ID-style canvas. It should not be advertised as a one-click background remover or a guarantee of passport or visa approval.
